Meet the SLP - Jackie Myers, M.S., CCC-SLP

Meet the SLP

This week on the blog…

We are so excited to welcome Speech Language Pathologist, Jaclyn Myers, M.S. CCC-SLP to KLC Pediatric Therapy! Jackie will be in the East Dallas and Rockwall clinics serving the families in Sunnyvale, Mesquite, Forney, Rowlett, Rockwall, Heath, and surrounding areas. We are honored to have her on our team and we can't wait for you to meet her!

Tell us a little about you and your journey in becoming a SLP - where are you from, where did you go to school, what are your degrees in?

I grew up outside of Dallas in Heath, TX. I graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. I have always known I wanted to work with children in some capacity and after attending an intro into Speech-Language Pathologist course my freshman year of college, I felt that this profession was the perfect fit.

Who in your life do you most look up to? Why?

While I have many great examples in my life, I admire my Grandmother, most. She is a woman of faith and has devoted her life to be a wonderful wife and mother. Her work ethic is unmatched. She is 83 years old and continues to work full time because she enjoys it. She treats others with so much respect and values her relationships with family and friends. I cherish our time together and hope to live a life as fulfilling as hers.

What’s your favorite place to go out to eat in DFW?

My favorite place to eat in Dallas is Hudson House.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I have a passion for organizing! I also enjoy attending concerts & sporting events, running/going on walks, and going to the movies.

Tell us a little about your family.

While I don’t have a family of my own yet, I am very close to my parents and brother. Family means everything to me! I grew up in a Christian home with parents who expressed the importance of faith, family, and respect for others. My mother is a retired teacher and is the person who instilled a love for children in me.

Are you more introverted, extroverted, or a mixture of both?

I would consider myself to be more introverted naturally.

What is one thing you would like families to know about you?

I truly love and enjoy what I do! I am a believe that if you love the work you are doing then it will come across in therapy and the kids can feel that energy too. I believe that establishing rapport and a relationship with each child is key. There is no greater feeling than having a role in helping a child communicate their thoughts and feelings effectively.
