Meet the Reading Specialist

This week on the blog…

We are so excited to welcome Reading Specialist, Heather Davenport, MA, Ed. to KLC Pediatric Therapy! Heather will be in the Aledo clinic serving the families in Aledo, Fort Worth, Willow Park, and surrounding areas. We are honored to have her on our team and we can't wait for you to meet her! Heather will be completing her CALT training in July 2024. Following her training, she will be providing dyslexia therapy as a CALT in training in addition to reading tutoring.

Tell us a little about you and your journey in becoming a Reading Specialist - where are you from, where did you go to school, what are your degrees in?

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I went to Vanderbilt and Trinity for my undergraduate degree (BA with a major in Psychology) and TCU for my graduate degree (MA in Elementary Education).

Who in your life do you most look up to? Why?

I deeply admired my Dad. He was a steadfast, faithful, and gentle man of God. He taught me how to keep my family as a priority, pursue academic excellence, and work hard throughout my life. He loved to laugh and enjoyed the simple rhythms of daily life.

What’s your favorite place to go out to eat in DFW?

Press Cafe and Local Foods

What do you like to do in your free time?

Exercise, take family walks, read, and have coffee with friends.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have been married to my amazing husband for 23 years. We have 5 children - Mary Louise (20), Emma (18), Mac (17), Ellie (15) and Annie (15). Our two oldest daughters attend Texas A&M University and our other three kids go to Aledo High School.

Are you more introverted, extroverted, or a mixture of both?

I am a highly relational introvert.

What is one thing you would like families to know about you?

I love being involved in the lives of children and families. I am a lifelong learner and hope to inspire my students to love learning and reading!
