Heather Davenport, MA, Ed.

Reading Specialist + Academic Language Therapist in Training

MEET HEATHER

I am a tenured K-8 certified teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trinity University and a Masters of Arts in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University. In addition, I am currently in training to be a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) through the Key School Dyslexia Training Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Over the course of my career as an educator, I have spent 10 years as an elementary school teacher in the public school, three years in private school settings, and ten years as a homeschool teacher to my five children. I have been trained in the following programs: the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum, Saxon Phonics, Texas Reading Academy, and Really Great Reading Phonics. Following the diagnosis of Dyslexia in one of my own children, I was trained in the Barton Reading and Spelling System (an Orton-Gillingham based program). My passion has always been educating children to become lifelong readers and spellers. I prioritize making children feel safe and parents feel supported. I live in Aledo with my husband and family. My husband and I have two daughters at Texas A&M University, and a son and twin daughters at Aledo High School.
